Our peaceful campsite sits on the edge of Melrose in the Scottish Borders, overlooked by the Eilden Hills. Perched just off the banks of the River Tweed, our site is perfect for long walks by the water and offers easy access to some great cycling routes.

Melrose itself is steeped in history with so much to explore, including the ruins of Melrose Abbey and the nearby Roman Heritage museum. Our campsite is well placed to visit Edinburgh, just a train ride away.

Activities & experiences nearby

There are lots of cycling routes in the area, challenge yourself to a long distance ride or enjoy a small ride along the river. The closest National Cycle Network route is Route 1 which runs just outside the site.

There is a bike hire and repair shop in Melrose less than 10 minutes’ walk from the site, so the whole family can enjoy the many cycle trails that are perfect for family groups, starting just outside the site at St Dunstan’s Park.

Our campsite’s riverside location lends itself to beautiful country walks along the River Tweed and the surrounding areas. Head towards the village of Newstead and visit Rhymer’s Stone on the three mile loop from the site.

Take a look around the Glenkinchie Distillery in Pencaitland, where you can tour the distillery, learn about whisky production and enjoy a whisky tasting experience.

Try something different at Ridelines, where you can focus your mountain biking skills on a tuition course through purpose built trails in Glentress Forest. Courses are suitable for all levels of experience and there are fun courses for kids to enjoy.

Less than a 10 minute walk away from our campsite, the Ship Inn offers traditional pub grub and a beer garden for those sunny afternoons.

For a classier affair, stop in at Abbey Fine Wines. They hold gin, wine and whisky tastings throughout the year and also serve fresh homemade scones in their coffee shop.

Swing from the treetops at Go Ape in Peebles, around 40 minutes away from our campsite. Perfect for an adventurous day out with the family, you can fly down zip wires and admire Glentress Forest and the surrounding Tweed Valley from the air.

Venture into nearby Galashiels and explore the riverside town. Catch up on the latest films at the Pavilion Cinema or take a dip in the pool, perfect if it’s a rainy day during your stay.

For a fun family day out, make the trip to Edinburgh – with so many shops, restaurants and attractions, including the famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival, there’s something for everyone.
