With the beautiful Yorkshire Dales on your doorstep and the River Ure winding its way nearby, you’ll have endless countryside to explore and a chance to get much closer to nature at our Lower Wensleydale campsite.
Our site is sheltered in the hollow of an old quarry; full of mature trees, flowers and wildlife and tucked away from a road lined by drystone walls. The market town of Leyburn is just a mile up the road and is full of independent shops, café’s and pubs.

There are mountain bike trails around the Yorkshire Dales, although if you are taking the little ones, note that there are no off-road routes directly from site.
The nearest National Cycle Network Route is Route 71. The 136 mile route starts in Whitehaven and finishes in Workington on the Cumbrian coast – view Sustrans route map.
Walk around the woods to the stunning Aysgarth Falls in Wensleydale. Look out for treecreepers and warblers amongst other wildlife, plus spot Bolton Castle in the distance. Start the 1.5 mile walk from Aysgarth Falls National Park Centre which is a 20 minute drive from the site or catch a bus there from Leyburn Market Place.
We’re a 15 minute walk from Inspired Chocolate, who run chocolate making workshops or alternatively, head to nearby Masham for a brewery tour at the Black Sheep.
Thrill seekers will love Go Ballistic Paintball Darlington, a 40 minute drive from site or for something uniquely different, try bush craft and shelter building in nearby Richmond – teaching adults and kids about team-based survival skills.
The Sandpiper Inn is a mile away from the site and has a bar and restaurant where you can enjoy a delicious meal.
For a special occasion try The Wensleydale Heifer which is about a 10 minute drive away from the site. They serve lots of seafood and also has a Sunday lunch menu.
Wensleydale is famous for its creamy, crumbly cheese. Head to the Wensleydale Creamery for a Yorkshire Wensleydale Cheese Experience to find out how this cheese is made.
The Forbidden Corner is a fascinating labyrinth full of surprises in Tupgill Park, just five miles away. A little further out is Lightwater Valley Theme Park, full of rides and attractions for children of all ages.
Bolton Castle is a 15 minute drive away. You’re invited to explore the castle grounds and grab a bite to eat in their tea room. If you plan to venture deeper into the Yorkshire Dales National Park, look for White Scar Cave which is about an hour’s drive direct from site.
