There are nice country lanes to lovely villages around Burford that you can walk or cycle. For example, start at Burford Priory and follow a circuit to Eastleach, Kelmscott and Brize Norton which is about 30 miles in total. You can view these local routes on the Route You interactive map

There are three walks of various lengths between 2.5 and 6 miles from our site. Routes and maps are available from reception.
Explorers of all ages love the Burford Treasure Hunt, the Murder Mystery Trail in Bourton-on-the-Water or the Spy Mission Treasure Trail in Witney.
Cotswold Falconry Centre holds Birds of Prey Experiences where you can hold and fly these impressive creatures.
Outdoor adventurers can try a range of activities all in less than an hour’s drive, such as archery or narrow boats on the River Severn. Max Events near Oxford is great for adult groups and offers activities like quad biking, hover crafting and rage buggies to name a few.
Visitor’s recommendations:
It’s a 35 minute walk to the Shilton Rose & Crown pub where the hearty food and the open fire make the journey worthwhile. Within a five mile radius is central Burford and Brize Norton, both have a number of pubs and bars serving food. The Priory in Burford High Street is a lovely stop off for coffee or lunch.
If you’re tracking down a cream tea lunch, you’ll find choice in Bibury and Bourton-on-the-Water.
Across the road from us is Cotswold Wildlife Park. You’ll meet the resident rhinos, zebras and leopards, there’s also a ‘Skymaze’ adventure playground and train ride on site.
Within a half hour drive is Cotswold Farm Park, Crocodiles of the World and Birdland & Jurassic Journey where you can come face to face with birds and reptiles, and track through the lost dinosaur jungle.
Even if you don’t have an agenda, there are lots of pretty villages in the area that are great for visiting such as The Slaughters, Bourton-on-the-Water, Chipping Norton, Chipping Camden, Stow on the Wold and Bicester to name a few.
