Nestled between two National Parks – the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors - our campsite is nothing short of rural bliss.

Our site is within sight of the main stand and with the famous turf before you, and only five minutes’ walk to the cobbled market town of Thirsk, the birthplace of Thomas Lord, after whom the Lord’s cricket ground was named.

Explore the edges of North York Moors National Park on National Cycle Route 65 or join Route 657, Thirsk to Easingwold, which runs past our site.

Just a five minute walk takes you to the centre of Thirsk, or you could enjoy a stroll along the River Cod Beck.

Our site offers a perfect base from which to explore both the Yorkshire Dales and North Yorkshire Moors. Venture a little further and take a guided walk around the National Park.

Try out some of these awesome activities in and around Thirsk.

Make some furry friends at Larks Edge Alpacas, where you can meet the alpacas, llamas, and pygmy goats and take them on walks.

Continue your animal adventure at the Thirsk Birds of Prey Centre, which houses over 70 birds that you can interact with on a falconry experience.

Visitor’s recommendations:

Being a market town, there are plenty of little eateries in Thirsk that you can stop at. Grab a sausage roll at H. Lee and Son’s butchers, before heading down to Little Three Bar for the live music and cocktails.

For delicious, high quality pub food, eat at the Golden Fleece, just a 10 minute walk from our campsite. The Golden Fleece also boasts an outdoor pizza oven so you can enjoy a fresh, stone-baked pizza with your beer.

Visit the marketplace in Thirsk Old Town, every Monday and Saturday. There are lots of stalls to peruse and plenty of food to sample; our visitors have recommended trying the pork pies!

Take a day trip to bustling York, around 40 minutes by train or car, or make the 50 mile drive through the North York Moors National Park to the harbor town of Whitby.

It’s worth stopping in at North Yorkshire Moors National Park. With miles of stunning heather, towering sea cliffs, secluded beaches and grassy dales give this Park a character all of its own.
