Our site is located within walking distance of the pleasant market town of Uttoxeter where there are many bars and restaurants, and for the children a small play park is situated just outside the gates.

With the railway station close by, our campsite provides the perfect base to explore the wider area, perhaps with a trip to enjoy the thrills of Alton Towers.

 

Family days out

Enjoy a thrilling day out at the races at Uttoxeter Racecourse, just a few seconds from your pitch! Home to the Midlands Grand National, Uttoxeter Racecourse offers horse racing throughout the year.

Experience fun for all the family at Alton Towers. Thrill seekers can experience the hair-raising rollercoasters, whilst the park also provides rides and entertainment for the little ones. With a waterpark, spa and treetop adventure, there’s something for every adventurer.

For a more relaxing day, stroll into Uttoxeter town centre for a day about the town. Stop into the Cinebowl for a film and a spot of bowling, or let the kids run riot at the Big Top Fun Centre – a soft play centre with a three-story frame and slides.

Cycling

The nearest National Cycle Network route to this site is route number 54, White Peak Loop.

The Les Sims Way (Route 549) is a 15 mile route which makes its way through Uttoxeter up to the Peak District – approximately a three hour round trip from the site.


Walking

Explore Dimmingsdale Valley and Furnace Forest, a North Staffordshire beauty spot where fine carriages once carried aristocracy on pleasure trips. The rolling hills and dramatic sandstone outcrops make a visit to this woodland a delight at any time of the year.

Stroll around the racecourse from the site or venture out along the River Dove, for a walk a little closer to our site.


Things to try

Make your own blend of gin at Nelsons Gin Distillery and Gin School. Spend the day learning about the creation of gin, whilst adding your own personal taste. At the end of the day, leave with your own 70cl bottle of gin, made from botanicals of your choice!

For a completely unique experience, go trekking with Llama Adventures! Learn all about llama handling, take your llama for a walk through the Staffordshire countryside, and make yourself a new four-legged friend.


Pubs and restaurants

For local pub grub under a mile away, visit the White Hart Hotel restaurant and bar. Stop in for a bite to eat – home cooked food with a fine dining twist. Settle in for the evening and choose from their extensive dessert and cocktail menu.

If you’re looking for a relaxed night in, the local fish and chip shop, ‘Fishy’ has been highly recommended. For equal amounts of comfort as a night in, but with table service, pay a visit to Dapple Grey in Uttoxeter’s town centre. Offering well-loved comfort foods such as burgers, pizza, and pie, there’s something for all the family.

Visit the Vintage Tea Emporium for afternoon tea, sandwiches and scones… or add a bit of fizz to your day with a glass of prosecco!
