Nestled on the edge of beautiful parkland covering one thousand acres in the Clyde Valley, our campsite offers a relaxing retreat in South Lanarkshire.

Strathclyde Country Park contains a variety of recreational facilities including water sports on Strathclyde Loch, woodland trails and countryside walks, picnic sites and sports pitches. The park is also home to Scotland’s first theme park, adjacent to our site.

With Glasgow only 20 minutes away, our campsite provides a peaceful retreat with the excitement of city life just around the corner.

  • Cycling Cycling

    Keen cyclists can join the 12 mile cycle route up to Glasgow via Route 74 and 75 along the River Clyde.

    For a simple route from Strathclyde Loch, head off in a clockwise direction from the site towards Chatelherault Country Park - a grand hunting lodge and the centrepiece of the woodland country park. Look out for the white cattle with their fearsome horns.

  • Walking Walking

    The Loch is a ten minute walk from the site, with a thousand acres of mature woodlands, wetlands, wildlife refuges and neat open parkland to explore.

  • Pubs and restaurants Pubs and restaurants

    Visit the Cricklewood Bar and Restaurant for a warm and relaxed atmosphere, with soft leather booths and real log burners, with a hearty menu and a good selection of beer, wine and cocktails.

    Stop in at the Riverhill Coffee Bar for a spot of lunch and a break from the hustle and bustle of Glasgow city. Sample their homemade cakes and sweet treats along with your afternoon coffee.

  • Things to try Things to try

    Learn about the history of the distillery and the making of Glengoyne Whisky and sample the different malts and sherries at Glengoyne Distillery - you can even have a go at creating your own single malt that you can take home with you.

    Try your hand at a few water sports at Strathclyde Country Park Water Sports Centre, the home of water based activities within the park. Have a go at windsurfing, water skiing, rowing, pedalos or bumper boats.

    Venture across to Falkirk and marvel at the Kelpies. Standing at over 30 metres high, these equine sculptures took only 90 days to construct and the Kelpies tour allows you to explore the inside of these fantastic pieces of art.

    Bursting with family theme park favourites, M&D’s theme park boasts the largest collection of spine chillingly thrilling rides in the country. Perched within walking distance of our campsite, you can explore the family rides, thrill rides and attractions, featuring a bowling alley, crazy golf and soft play.

    The theme park also offers a daily bus service to Glasgow, so you can explore Scotland’s cultural hub at your leisure.

    Next door to the theme park is Amazonia tropical rainforest which is home to over 70 different species. Marvel at the monkeys, snakes, and parrots then visit the nocturnal area to see the bats. Have a go at the animal handling sessions and try your hand at being a zookeeper!
